on the scene of an apartment fire that displaced 18 people including eight children. it broke out after midnight. crews are now in the mop up stage. they found a carport and several cars burning. the fire made its way to the four-unit complex. one unit was completely destroyed. fortunately, everyone was out safe. >> developing news from oakland, frightened passengers were rushed off a just-landed delta airlines flight with the emergency caused by thick smoke in the cabin. katie marzullo is in the newsroom with more. >> overnight the smoke came from an air conditioning path but why it malfunctioned we don't know. they made an emergency evacuation. >> leave all personal belongings

behind. >> we can fought -- not breath. go. >> this happened after 9:00 last night. the delta connection flight 4454 landed at oakland and arrived from l.a.x. and a passenger took the video of the evacuation in the cabin and as passengers exit the plane. the emergency chutes were not deployed. passengers left as they would normally. >> they put down the emergency exit. we walk down the stairs. on the tarmac, the firefighters were there and the smoke was filling up the cabin. it was like being in a bar. >> there were 75 passengers and four crew members. no one was hurt. >> at the crew handled the situation well. the passengers would have been able to evacuate faster if they opened more than one exit.

>> the pay area is preparing for the next heavy round of rain. the first storm caused travel problems at the airport yesterday. you can see the runways still wet. 120 nights were canceled. many were short flight to and from california cities like palm springs and monterey. delays averaged they hours. in delays at oakland or san jose international airport but a lot of the airlines sent a seattle flight to san jose rather than san francisco because of the wet weather. >> crews are removing downed trees best next storm. this fell across highway one in marin county. it blocked lanes until the workers can remove it. it caused minor flooding on the highway and it jammed open. the hardest rain fell on the north bay as commuters were driving home. our reporter was scouting 101 and shows us the impact.

covering novato, oakland, sunnyvale and all bay area this is abc7 news. >> google has found a new home for the mysterious barge at treasure island. officials say the barge will move to stockton by end of next week. it has to leave because google lacks proper permits and is facing huge fines. it is believed the barge is used for a floating tech show room. there is no official word from google. investigators are looking into the cause of a small plane crash on the hawaiian island that killed three people. three others were injured. two were critical. it happened at 9:30 as the plan tried to take off. it landed in a remote area off the runway difficult for emergency crews to reach. the plane burst into flames. >> legendary radio personality
